Hey there! My name is Kyra (pronounced kee-ruh) and one of my biggest passions is creating beautiful yet disturbing art. I want to make images that look pleasing but also have a certain element of discomfort.

For my upcoming project I am looking into the mindset of delusional stalkers. These delusional stalkers create a whole new image of the person they are stalking in their head and/or believe themselves to have a special relationship with who they are stalking, even if the person being stalked has no knowledge of the stalkers existence. Most often the victims of these delusional stalkers are celebrities. They could be idols, musicians, actors, internet celebrities, etc. There are two main questions I am planning to look into in researching this topic:

1. What brings delusional stalkers to become so obsessed with a certain person?

2. How does this behavior affect the lives of the celebrity and the stalker?

Before coming to the idea of delusional stalkers my base idea was relationships either platonic or romantic. My planning so far has mostly consisted of sloppily writing down whatever idea that pertained to relationships and then gradually narrowing it down to one concept that could be split in two paths: idealized romance. From there the two paths were either from the perceptive of innocent idealized romance (such as from the eyes of a little girl) or from that of an obsessive, delusional stalker. I made sketches based on both of these perspectives and decided that the stalker route would suit me better due to my love creating pleasant yet disturbing images. The feedback from my peers also pointed me in the direction of the stalker approach since they thought it would be much more interesting to make a piece about.

Here are some artists that inspire me for this piece:

I cannot find the artist for this one. I will update later if I find them.

You have a very clear grasp on the topic you've chosen and the impact you want it to have within your artwork. I think the topic you chose and the idea you have suits you since you enjoy creating pleasant images with an underlying disturbance. I'd suggest you use colors with high contrast to symbolize the disconnect between the two subjects because I think it could help have another artistic element tie into the concept.

You have a very solid planning for this project and I'm glad that you are tackling a different and unusual subject. Since this piece is inspired by Renaissance/Baroque style paintings, I like that you are planning on doing a bigger painting. As a suggestion, I would like to see you utilize bold and unique colors for your piece. Though it may direct away from the initial planning of the project, I think that using non-traditional colors (for example, you don't use regular skin tones and everything) would be an interesting addition to this piece and your portfolio

I enjoy the direction you're going in with the whole stalker idea my guy..I feel like you could low-key ask a certain someone who's experienced stalking first hand from some insight on what being stalked is like so you not only get a view on stalking from a celebrity but also on just yknow a regular person as well..I just really wanna see how creepy and dark your stalker art could get if you go through with it so uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh smooch :^)

I am really liking the direction you've chosen to focus on for your concept. You definitely have a much more solid direction than you did before, and I think this idea is very interesting and could be explored in a numerous amount of ways. I also think your artistic inspirations are very fitting for the kind of work you tend to make. I can't wait to see how your piece evolves over the semester!
