So over the past month or so since our class has finished our thesis projects we've been working on helping with a theater production by painting backdrops for their new play. It's a children's play with two different stories told back to back. The first story is about a group of humans flying through space when their ship crash lands on a strange planet and they have to figure out how to fix their ship. The second play is about a colony of ants and a beehive coming into conflict because the bees aren't doing their work. The backdrops that my group and I worked on were for the alien play.

Our main project
The other things that we have been working on are our group projects. My group started with the idea to make a large doll that would represent loneliness and touch starvation but ended up deciding that we should all make our own individual dolls that represent a part of ourselves. They will all go together in a series about love and physical affection. This is how our group is divided:
Me - desire doll: wants love and physical affection but is too shy to ask, very lonely
Summer - giving doll, gives too much of itself (it's emotional + physical energy) and it takes a toll on the doll

Scout - phobic doll: likes being loved but doesn't like being touched

Zoe - loving doll: very open to affection and will take it where ever, whenever

Mine + Summer's are meant to mirror each other and Scout's + Zoe's mirror each other
Here's my planning for our initial idea of a single large doll:

And here's the planning for my doll for our updated projects:

Group projects are a huge part of professional life in any career and this project will help all of us gain experience in working with others. We have to talk to each other about resources managing time, which is something that is VERY common in a real working environment.
So yeah many things have been in the works since the last project.
FUNKY ARTIST TIME
Par0llel
(Sorry there are so many pictures I just love this person's art)

I just love this artist's use of color, line, graphic and character design. The SHEER amount of energy and all the details in these pieces make them so interesting to look at! I want to incorporate this boldness into my artwork.
(also on a side note I'm pretty sure this person is only 17 and THAT BLOWS MY MIND BRO HOW???)
Have fun :)

The design for your doll is really nice-looking! I like how simplistic it is, making it easy to find spaces for any electronics you'd stick in it and avoiding complications with its actual creation. That original large doll is SUPER creepy and would've totally fit your initial concept, also. I do, however, like the new idea better as it gives each of you a chance to really represent yourselves through these things. Good luck with this, I really want to see it finished.
I really love the concept of your senior production project! I like that all the dolls are so unified and I especially like the design of your doll. The way you guys are integrating light and noise with each of them, especially the target design with your doll lighting up. I don't know if I'm a fan of the black background with the bloody "Please hug me" thing. I don't know if that's intended for the installation itself, but it gives me big 2012 creepy pasta vibes. Everything else is epic tho, can't wait to see the final result!
